Almost like a ritual. I do some changes to /etc/apt/sources.list, add a few ppa repositories from launchpad and install the following packages. When I do so i feel more relaxed and ready to use the computer.

Gnome Do

I also turn on to start up by boot and activate twitter plugin, this is where I mostly twitter from.

Google Chrome

Also some extensions to Chrome (a google url shortener and google apps checkers)

Docky

On netbooks i customize the startup command to include a -n for smoother experience.

Ubuntu Restricted Extras

Since Ubuntu don’t include by default a lot of handy codecs, this package will provide them.

Picasa

What else is there to use as a photo organizer?
