Every time I do a fresh install of Ubuntu linux, there are these things i do. Almost like a ritual. I do some changes to /etc/apt/sources.list, add a few ppa repositories from launchpad and install the following packages. When I do so i feel more relaxed and ready to use the computer.
- Gnome Do
- I also turn on to start up by boot and activate twitter plugin, this is where I mostly twitter from.
- Google Chrome
- Also some extensions to Chrome (a google url shortener and google apps checkers)
- Docky
- On netbooks i customize the startup command to include a -n for smoother experience.
- Ubuntu Restricted Extras
- Since Ubuntu don’t include by default a lot of handy codecs, this package will provide them.
- Picasa
- What else is there to use as a photo organizer?
